Goods Vehicle Application Update
August 10, 2017

Cllr Jonathan Wadsworth’s update on Woofenden’s application.

Having spoken to Woofenden Construction, Neil Woofenden confirmed that Woofenden has applied for a minor HGV license for a 7.5 tonne lorry for general building use (which is the size of the builder’s merchant delivery lorries).  Apparently, Woofenden’s plans are to use this vehicle to help reduce the flow of traffic into the village; for example, Woofenden’s staff would be able to move materials directly to their sites, rather than collecting from their yard so this should help reduce vehicle flows.

This new vehicle should also mean “waste materials” can go directly from a site to a recycling centre rather than being transported back to their yard to be collected via, say, a skip lorry.

Woofenden reminded me that neither their current delivery lorries nor vans have never caused any issues with regard to traffic in the village so Neil does not foresee any problems with obtaining a HGV licence.
